NOI techpark and Nobis are open

Nobis Opening

10.05.2023

Research, innovation and technology at your fingertips. This was the case last Saturday, May 6, at the new NOI Techpark in Brunico. More than 4,000 interested people explored the building complex, which houses both the new NOBIS convention area and the NOI innovation center. There were guided tours, public lectures, programs for children, insights into sustainable production, a round table and clubbing in the evening.

After the ceremonial opening of the NOI Techpark in Brunico last Friday, in the presence of Governor Arno Kompatscher and over 200 invited guests, an open day for the entire population took place on Saturday, May 6. More than 4,000 people from Brunico and the surrounding area were curious to see what the NOI building is all about, who will be researching, teaching and working here in the future, and what topics will be the focus here. Consistently throughout the day, many people crowded into the building to visit the premises where companies and start-ups, professors and researchers, students and young people will work for tomorrow’s innovations. And also to take a first look at the new bistrot on the first floor of the building, the new parking garage and the new NOBIS event center.

A varied program was offered from 9:30 a.m. until late at night: For the little ones, there were MiniNOI workshops on the topic of mobility. During guided tours, visitors got to know the building and learned interesting facts about the architecture and hydrogen plant, the coworking space “startbase”, the laboratory for sustainable production and much more. The main players of the NOI in Brunico, the business network Automotive Excellence South Tyrol and the Free University of Bolzano, invited to take a virtual look at their products at a VR station and to experience how smart, flexible and sustainable production works.
The whole event was completed by a round table, moderated by the journalist Sabine Amhof. The main topic of discussion was the NOI Techpark in Brunico: the mobility of the future. Speakers included NOI president Helga Thaler, mayor Roland Griessmair, AES president Klaus Mutschlechner, department director for mobility Martin Vallazza, director of tech transfer and innovation at the NOI Vincent Mauroit and university professors Angelika Peer and Erwin Rauch. The round table was introduced by a keynote speech by Carlo Costa, General Director of Brennerautobahn AG. “The digital and sustainable change is an epochal challenge. The Brenner Motorway wants to become a green and high-tech corridor. An ambitious goal that requires investments as well as constant research and innovation in the field of new technologies, artificial intelligence and renewable energies. I am sure that also through the collaboration with the NOI Techpark in Brunico, we will contribute to making the mobility of the future ever more sustainable and safe,” said Costa. An aperitif followed by clubbing concluded the open day.
