Brunico & Surrounding Area

Brunico - Nobis
Open. Bold. Sportily alpine.

Brunico is the lively little town at the heart of the Dolomites region. The “Rienzstadt”, or town on the river Rienz, as the capital of the Pusteria Valley is often known, has blended tradition and modernity since time immemorial. This is reflected in the architecture, culture, leisure activities and also the character of the residents.
Surrounded by the legendary mountains of the Dolomites, Brunico is not only the perfect venue for your event, but also a great base for exploring South Tyrol.

Brunico - Nobis
The liveable small town

The stately castle rises high above the rooftops of the town of Brunico. Once the summer residence of the prince bishops, today it is the striking symbol of Brunico, which can be seen from afar. The castle was built in the 13th century by the Prince Bishop Bruno von Kirchberg. He is considered to be the founder of Brunico, and the town owes him its name.
Today Brunico is the main town in the Pusteria Valley, and as well as being the economic centre and tourist destination, first and foremost it is home to 17,000 residents. Its modern infrastructure coupled with active traditions and a settled nature make the town one of the most liveable small towns in Italy. Brunico keeps pace with the times and embodies the values of energy, ambition and open-mindedness that are lived out in various projects and opportunities.

Nature, culture, mountains and more

Brunico nestles in the holiday region named after its home mountain, the Kronplatz (2,275 m).
In winter, the Kronplatz, with 120 kilometres of ski slopes and 32 modern lifts, is South Tyrol’s number 1 ski resort. But it’s not just downhill skiers who will find plenty to keep them amused. The region is a mecca for cross-country skiing, tobogganing, ice skating, snowshoeing and winter hiking too. Summer, when the unique landscape can be explored on foot or by bicycle, is just as lovely as winter in the region.

The culture in the mountains is – quite literally – a real highlight. Alongside countless museums in and around the town of Brunico, high on the summit of the Kronplatz two further museums await all culture enthusiasts – the MMM Corones, which is one of the famous museums operated by the mountaineer, Reinhold Messner, and LUMEN, the museum of mountain photography.
The culinary choice in the holiday region is as varied as the range of leisure activities. Look forward to traditional South Tyrolean cuisine and international culinary delights, or how about an Italian aperitif in one of the countless bars and cafés? The Dolomites region is looking forward to welcoming you!
